Have you all checked out the trailer to VALERIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS? It’s looks like SO much fun! All the colors, the effects, the futuristic images! Ji saw it and now she wants to be an astronaut. Last week, she wanted to be a Firefighter! She’s a  little too young to check out the film but being that I want to foster her interests, I thought it would be fun to take a little fieldtrip to the closest thing to space; The California Science Center. We also invited a few other moms from our L.A Mamacita network and made a fieldtrip out of it!

Mommies at Endeavour

We focused on the Endeavour exhibition and it was a lot of fun. I’m not much of a scholar but it was interesting to learn more about space through interactive activities. They have a really cool Endeavour simulator ride. I rode it with two other moms and I really felt like I was away in space. I was so happy when we “made it back” from our “long” trip.

Just when we thought we were done, I realized that we would actually be checking out the real Endeavour! It’s SO big. It just didn’t seem real to me but it was great to see an artifact that will down in history!

Are you getting excited about space too? This Valerian inspired field trip was so much fun for both the kids and the adults but I want more so I’ll be making it a date night with the hubby and checking out the film!

About VALERIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS

Synopsis:
Rooted in the classic graphic novel series, Valerian and Laureline- visionary writer/director Luc Besson advances this iconic source material into a contemporary, unique and epic science fiction saga.

Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) are special operatives for the government of the human territories charged with maintaining order throughout the universe. Valerian has more in mind than a professional relationship with his partner- blatantly chasing after her with propositions of romance. But his extensive history with women, and her traditional values, drive Laureline to continuously rebuff him.

Under directive from their Commander (Clive Owen), Valerian and Laureline embark on a mission to the breathtaking intergalactic city of Alpha, an ever-expanding metropolis comprised of thousands of different species from all four corners of the universe. Alpha’s seventeen million inhabitants have converged over time- uniting their talents, technology and resources for the betterment of all. Unfortunately, not everyone on Alpha shares in these same objectives; in fact, unseen forces are at work, placing our race in great danger.

VALERIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS  is out on Friday, July 21st.

See you there!!!
