My little lady has been in love with Daniel Tiger ever since she was six months old. Her first birthday party theme was Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and every morning she asks that I put Daniel on for her. So, with Valentine’s Day coming up and the new release of
“DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD: WOULD YOU BE MINE?” and “DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD: SUPER DANIEL!” we have had an extra amount of love days around here based on Daniel’s adventures.
1. We made delicious pancakes.
Daddy made pancakes; mommy used cookie cutters to make the cute heart shapes and baby sprinkled them with colorful sprinkles. This activity was easy, fun and delicious!
2. We shared love notes.
I found these cute hearts at our local Dollar Tree and showed Ji how to say the messages to each other. They are now hanging on our doors and make for sweet Valentine’s month decorations!
3. We established a family tradition.
Every holiday since Ji was old enough to hold on to things, I’ve purchased window clings and magnets so that she can decorate the house. She loves to help and enjoys seeing her decorations come to life. It’s been a year and a half since we have been doing this, so I’ve established it as an official family tradition!
“Would You Be Mine?”
Features eight stories including “It’s Love Day!” and “Daniel’s Love Day Surprise.” In “It’s Love Day,” Daniel makes special heart cards to bring to school and hand out. While at school, some of the kids explain how they like to say “I love you” to their friends and family – Prince Wednesday likes to sing, and Miss Elaina likes to give hugs. In the story “Daniel’s Love Day Surprise,” Daniel helps his mom make a special heart-shaped pizza and finds a way to show Grandpère how much he loves him by setting up a special treasure hunt just for him featuring sparkling purple hearts.
“DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD: SUPER DANIEL!”
ZOOM! Grab your cape and watch Daniel pretend to be Super Daniel! In the story “Super Daniel,” Dad Tiger forgets to take his lunch to work. Helping to save the day, Daniel, along with Grandpère, heads to the clock factory to ensure dad gets his lunch. Along the way, Daniel has several super adventures with his friends Prince Wednesday and Miss Elaina. Also included on this new DVD is the bonus story “Goodnight Daniel.” In this tale, Daniel is pretending to be Super Daniel when Dad Tiger lets him know he needs to get ready for bed. Young fans can follow along as Daniel takes a bath, puts on his pajamas, brushes his teeth, and gets into bed – just in time for Mom Tiger to read him a bedtime story, “Superheroes Go to Bed Too.”
The Daniel Tiger series has become part of our daily life. I love that the simple life lessons that I’m trying to teach my daughter are being reinforced through catchy musical strategies. I dare you to watch Daniel Tiger and not sing along! Will you RIDE ALONG with us? (see what I did there?) If you haven’t introduced your kids to Daniel Tiger and his friends and family yet, I highly recommend that you do!
What types of things does your family do to say I LOVE YOU? I’d love to hear all about your fun traditions!
