FREE THINGS TO DO IN LOS ANGELES

Los Angeles can be expensive but having fun with your family doesn’t have to break the bank.  From festivals, to movie events, to arts and crafts, everyone is sure to have some fun! As always, everything on my list is completely FREE!

Saturday, March 5th

Los Angeles Lantern Festival: 12pm-7pm

Join Angelenos beneath Chinese lanterns in the vibrance of Downtown L.A. for the 15th Annual Los Angeles Lantern Festival. The event culminates the Lunar New Year festivities with engaging community booths, museum tours, live entertainment, music, arts & crafts, and food trucks

Gold Line Extension Celebration: 11am-4pm

Celebrate the Gold Line Extension with free metro rides, ribbon cuttings, live music, local businesses and food trucks and more, at all the new stations: Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale, Azusa.

Lovely Lavender at Rancho Los Cerritos: 1pm-4pm

Old-fashioned, historically-themed crafts and activities for children ages 5-11, rain or shine. Projects include a variety of colorful creations and crafts kids will love making.

Zootopia Themed Day at L.A Live: 11am-5pm

A day full of giveaways and fun all for just the price of the movie ticket! FREE fun activities will include exclusive photo op, character headband giveaway, coloring station, themed raffle prize and additional giveaways.

Crafterday at the Hart Mansion: 11am-4pm

The young ones can try their hands at simple crafts like making their own totem poles, designing their own rope art, making their own dreamcatchers, and so much more! There is also a barnyard area with live animals!

Cabrillo Art Corner at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium: 11am-3pm

Have fun doing arts and crafts the first Saturday of the month. Each Cabrillo Art Corner will feature a unique ocean-themed project that jump starts your creativity, engages your senses and relaxes your mind. Focus on the task at hand and forget about life’s craziness for awhile.

Sunday, March 6th

CicLAvia in the Valley: 9 am – 4 pm

4 miles of LA streets open up to pedestrians & bicyclists for a giant experiment in new civic consciousness, from Panorama City to Pacoima. Festivals, performances, bike clinics, & more along the route. Check out their website for the official route.

Family Arts at Barnsdall in Hollywood: 10am-2pm

Free art workshops on arts & crafts from world cultures, led by a different artist each week. Call to verify.

MOCA Grand Sunday Studio: 1pm

Sunday Studio is MOCA’s drop-in gallery exploration and studio art program. Participate in an all-ages tour of MOCA’s permanent collection or join in on arts crafts for the entire family.
