We recently made over Ji’s room. I am 33 weeks pregnant, so I wanted the make-over to be as easy and fast as possible. With the help of my husband, my wishes came true. We decided on a make-over for two reasons: 1: We know we are having a second girl, so there was no reason for the room to remain gender neutral and 2: I’m nesting so I needed the room to look perfect before the arrival of baby numero dos. We decided to do three things and nothing more to change the room.
Three Easy Steps to Make Over A Kids Room
Change the paint color! We had a mint color in our second room that was originally supposed to be my home office. It’s a little girls room now, so we needed a new, girly color. A fresh coat of blush pink paint and the room looks brighter and even a bit bigger than before!
Add a beautiful rug! I love how a beautiful rug can change the look and feel of a room. As you can see, I like our house to look (trust me, it just looks) clutter free. But I also like the cozy and comfy feel. Our old rug felt very generic and cheap so when Lorena Canals rugs offered to gift us this beautiful star designed rug I gladly accepted. It also matches the décor that we already have perfectly. The best part? It’s machine washable! I’m allergic to dust, pollen, and pet dander, so all those pesky things that can make their way in into our house are just a machine wash away. Isn’t that wonderful! The rug is also handmade, and eco-friendly made with natural dyes. You know I like to stay away from chemicals, so I feel very comfortable letting my daughter play on this rug. If you are on the hunt for a new rug for any room in your house, I definitely recommend Lorena Canals. Keep in mind that each purchase also helps support the education and well-being of children, since the part of the proceeds are donated to various projects that help kids in India.
Personalize! We didn’t set aside extra cash for the make over, but we didn’t really need a big budget. I used pieces from recent special occasions as decoration and statement pieces to personalize the room.
I used the tassel from our gender reveal party to spice up this chair that also works as a toy chest.
I just love how three simple changes made over my little girls room. She is so excited to have a pink room and I’m happy that it took just one day to finish it all!
I’m very happy with the outcome and I hope you can use these three tips to make-over any room in your home.
