I’m always asked how I get Ji to eat her veggies and truthfully I don’t have an answer. I got lucky because she loves them (I think it’s in her genes) but she is three years old and has her days. On those days when she is feeling picky, I hide the veggies in one of her favorite treats! Smoothies! Since we recently saw the Captain Underpants, I decided to make a smoothie with special powers. Her special power is to “read” she’s excited because drinking her smoothie is going to help her read. I like it!
Our Captain Underpants Smoothie was super easy to make. We only used three ingredients.
Throw one cup juice, a handful of kale and a handful of raspberries in the blender and ta da! Captain Underpants Super Smoothie is ready and Ji approves.
When Ji was three months old, I became active in looking for ways to connect with other Los Angeles mothers with similar lifestyles as mine. I was looking for moms who worked from home, owned a small business and/or were as crunchy as I am. I know there are other Latina moms in Los Angeles who are a little bit old school like their mothers, raising bi-lingual children, doing the entrepreneur thing and always looking for the best, safest and healthiest options for their kids. That’s me and I just knew there were more moms out there that could I form a community with. So, far before the L.A Mamacita Blog was created, the L.A Mamacita Mommy Group was my thing. I organized mommy and me get togethers as being a coordinator and connecting people has always been a passion of mine.
In 2016, I organized a playdate at MOCA and the theme of that get together was to talk about our careers and to bounce ideas off each other. I’ll always hold that playdate special to my heart because that’s where I met another L.A Mamacita as passionate as I am about connecting like-minded moms. She also loves to plan and organize events! I’m a firm believer that when strong women support each other in an effort to create good, amazing things happen. That mamacita is Janet of Jan’s Spring. We have now joined forces to create L.A Mamacitas, an events community focused on bringing like-minded Latina moms in a stylish and relaxing environment. We all like to have cute Instagram pictures, right? I know I’ve gone off on a tangent but I just wanted to give you a little back story before I dived into recapping our latest event. Sip, Style and Socialize!
Janet and I wanted to give our fellow L.A Mamacitas the opportunity give themselves the gift of a few hours for themselves in order to relax, get pampered, have mimosa and socialize with other Los Angeles moms. Our vision came true on April 30th. When about 30 mamacitas came together at IKO Studios in the Arts District in Downtown, Los Angeles to have a great time.
All of our special guests were treated to delicious treats like mimosas and these yummy Mexican cookies.
Everyone in attendance of our intimate event was treated to mini hair and make-up sessions, a relaxing massage and polish changes while making new amigas! I especially loved that our guests were ready and willing to meet new people!
Our guests also had the opportunity to do a little shopping. The super stylish and fellow mommy blogger Maria from Fashion Seekers Boutique was there offering her trendy clothes at amazing prices!
We wanted moms to not only come and relax but also to sit down and think about their goals in life. We get so caught up with wanting to be the best parents we could be, that sometimes we forget how to be the best version of ourselves.
Every mamacita in attendance went home with swag bag filled with goodies like make-up, candles and jewelry.
Some extra lucky mamas took home raffle items like a mommy and me photoshoot from my hubby’s photography company The Medina Creative, a goody box filled with mommy essentials from Mama Love Collective, a gift card from Fashion Seekers Boutique and stunning necklace and other goodies hand picked by the L.A Mamacitas duo.
This event was truly an amazing experience. This was a team effort and it could not have been done without women coming together for a collective cause. Yes, we were there to socialize but most of all, it was event that was created to support each others hustle. Whether the mom’s where there to get away for the day, to meet others going through similar experiences, to share their craft and/or to make new friends, we hope that everyone took away a lasting memory with them.
and, if you missed it don’t worry because Sip, Style and Socialize 2018 is already in the works! Keep an eye out for tickets sales and for the dates of our up-coming events by following our Instagram page. We can’t wait to do it again!
We cannot thank our guests and those who lent their expertise to make our vision a reality enough. Thank you so much!
I was given this product in exchange for my honest review.
I thought wearing Dahlia on a carrier would make my shopping trips run a little more smoothly but I found a product that makes it easier! If you haven’t heard about the Binxy Baby Hammock then you are not alone. More people need to know about the Binxy Baby Hammock!
Dahlia is at the age where she wants to explore her surroundings. I want her to see all the colors, textures, sounds and social activity going on around her. The Binxy Baby Hammock allows her to do that while we shop.
This cute invention comes in different colors and designs to fit your style. It fits standard shopping carts and can hold up to 50lbs and is perfect for babies who are not yet sitting up. We have about one more month of use but the low price was totally worth it. We will be definitely adding the Binxy Baby Hammock to our best babyshower gifts list!

I’m often comparing all the things I am doing differently with the girls. Just the other day I was going through Ji’s baby pictures and trying to figure out when some of them were taken. I recorded her milestones in a very old school way. I wrote the date and milestone on that back of each picture! Dahlia on the other hand, has her milestones recorded in the picture itself. This time around, I’m using the super cute baby cards by Milestone Baby.
Milestone Baby makes super cute cards that make that help you commemorate special moments and also make for thoughtful congratulatory gifts. They have collections for weddings, pregnancies, toddlers and even twins!
I started the blog because I wanted to share all the fun events I was experiencing with Ji. Every month I would post a long list of events around Los Angeles that I thought would be fun for families to attend. I love sharing information with my readers but that list would take me hours to create and post, plus, not to mention hours on top of hours of research!
A few months ago, I was introduced to Citymomsapp, and I loved it. Why didn’t I come up with this idea?! It’s a free app where you can find tons of activities for you and the kids to do. It’s really easy to use and it has a great filter feature so that you can find activities and events based on age and location. The location part is the my favorite because driving around Los Angeles can take hours, so the closer the better for me!
The Citymoms app also hosts free events around the city. I love that because I’m all about the FREE events! As a matter of fact, I will be hosting an event with them on April 13th at The Great Escape Club. Save the date and RSVP through the CityMoms app. You will be entered to win prizes!
Try CityMom app to get ahead of the game and plan your activities now, meet new friends and have some fun.

Ji was such an easy baby. She slept a lot during the day and slept through the night starting at seven weeks. My poor Dahlia wasn’t as fortunate the first few weeks because all she could take were five to ten-minute cat naps here and there. She has a three-year-old big sister and our house isn’t exactly a mansion, so quiet time is very rare around here! I was sleepy and she was sleepy! Everyone kept telling me to sleep when she slept, but it wasn’t at all possible because she never slept…. Then, when she turned six weeks old, we received a DockATot to review and I was so excited! Would I finally get to take a nap?
I did!!! Dahlia took her first two-hour nap the first day we tried the DockATot. I love it because it hugs the babies body and in my opinion mimics a mommy’s arms wrapped around them while they sleep. She slept so comfortably that I couldn’t believe it.
So, what is a DockATot? It’s a multi-functional lounger, co-sleeper, and playtime lounger. You can use it for nap time, to place baby in the bed with you and take with you on the road. As a matter of fact, we are planning on taking it with us on our first overnight trip to visit the grandparents. And, it’s not only for infants. It comes in two different sizes. We have the Deluxe for babies 0-8 months, and it also comes in Grand for kids 9-36 months old. The best part is that it is breathable so if the baby were to turn, they would have plenty of room to breath!
My stylish mamas will also be pleased to hear that it comes in different colors and patterns. We are big fans of pastels, so we chose this pretty teal design.
Nowadays, Dahlia sleeps through the night in her crib. It’s nice and quite at night but during the day when it’s hectic and loud we definitely bring out the DockATot for napping, lounging and tummy time.
A happy baby means a happy mama! I definitely recommend this baby product if you have trouble getting your baby to nap, if you are looking for a safe co-sleeper or if you are looking for a unique baby shower gift.
If you have any questions regarding the DockATot let me know! I’ll be more than happy to answer your questions.
They say that when your second baby comes around you are not as picky or concerned as you were with the first. Wrong! I want the best for my new baby just as much as I did with my first. I want them both to have the healthiest food, environment, clothes and even toys! I’m convinced that everything that they come in contact with has effects on their well-being. So, when I was given the opportunity to review organic and eco safe baby swag from Finn + Emma, I was very excited to do so!
The body suit and footed pants are size 0-3 months so they don’t fit my 5-week old yet. Actually, the footed pants are really long and probably won’t fit her until she’s 6-9 months but I don’t mind. The clothes are super soft and will be perfect for her to wear in whatever season we are in once she fits into them.
And, how fitting is the teething rattle! Perfect for a baby that will be taking a lot of photos for the gram! All of their wood toys are made from untreated Indian hardwood, finished with vegetable seed wax, and filled with little beans.
They also have a line of muslin blankets in bright beautiful colors, wooden play gyms and corresponding play mats.
If you want the best for your baby and are health and eco conscious check out Finn+ Emma!
