We recently made over Ji’s room. I am 33 weeks pregnant, so I wanted the make-over to be as easy and fast as possible. With the help of my husband, my wishes came true. We decided on a make-over for two reasons: 1: We know we are having a second girl, so there was no reason for the room to remain gender neutral and 2: I’m nesting so I needed the room to look perfect before the arrival of baby numero dos. We decided to do three things and nothing more to change the room.
Three Easy Steps to Make Over A Kids Room
Change the paint color! We had a mint color in our second room that was originally supposed to be my home office. It’s a little girls room now, so we needed a new, girly color. A fresh coat of blush pink paint and the room looks brighter and even a bit bigger than before!
Add a beautiful rug! I love how a beautiful rug can change the look and feel of a room. As you can see, I like our house to look (trust me, it just looks) clutter free. But I also like the cozy and comfy feel. Our old rug felt very generic and cheap so when Lorena Canals rugs offered to gift us this beautiful star designed rug I gladly accepted. It also matches the décor that we already have perfectly. The best part? It’s machine washable! I’m allergic to dust, pollen, and pet dander, so all those pesky things that can make their way in into our house are just a machine wash away. Isn’t that wonderful! The rug is also handmade, and eco-friendly made with natural dyes. You know I like to stay away from chemicals, so I feel very comfortable letting my daughter play on this rug. If you are on the hunt for a new rug for any room in your house, I definitely recommend Lorena Canals. Keep in mind that each purchase also helps support the education and well-being of children, since the part of the proceeds are donated to various projects that help kids in India.
Personalize! We didn’t set aside extra cash for the make over, but we didn’t really need a big budget. I used pieces from recent special occasions as decoration and statement pieces to personalize the room.
I used the tassel from our gender reveal party to spice up this chair that also works as a toy chest.
I just love how three simple changes made over my little girls room. She is so excited to have a pink room and I’m happy that it took just one day to finish it all!
I’m very happy with the outcome and I hope you can use these three tips to make-over any room in your home.

I love L.A! You know why? Because I get to experience events that most likely only happen in the city of angels. I was invited to one of those events to check out an advanced screening of An American Girl Story-Melody 1963: Love Has to Win at the Grove in West L.A. Being that Ji is only three years old, we had yet to experience the American Girl brand or store and last week was our first taste of it. I honestly thought we were going to watch an animated film and was surprised to arrive to a red carpet event filled with stars like Anthony Anderson and Common. It was a beautiful surprise because both the film and the celebration event were very inspirational.

About The Film
Based in 1963 Detroit during the civil rights movement, An American Girl Story—Melody 1963: Love Has to Win centers around 10-year old Melody whose eyes are opened to the racial inequality surrounding her, including the 1963 Birmingham Church Bombing. As a result, her belief in the “indivisible” promise of our country’s Pledge of Allegiance comes into question as she challenges her teacher on the validity of this given the horrific tragedy. After an emotional journey of self-reflection, her mother gives her the courage she needs by instilling in her that love brings out the best in everyone; reminding Melody that it’s important to “stand up for what’s right ,even when it’s hard or scary.”
Within five minutes of the screening, it got straight to the point. Melody’s mom was faced with decision to keep protecting her child from the unfair issues happening in the United States or let her daughter think that everything was nice and peachy. My daughter is only three years old, so I honestly didn’t know if I should keep letting her watch, since the issues were a little too deep for her age. I too faced the same decision as Melody’s mom. We stayed and Ji loved it. I know that deep down she didn’t understand what the storyline really was, but Melody and her mom had such a loving, playful, unconditional love type of relationship that she was able to relate. I saw our relationship in theirs and I believe Ji was able to recognize that too. The film ended with a song and for that split second of silence, all you heard was Ji’s little voice, “again” she said.
An American Girl Story—Melody 1963: Love Has to Win After Party at the American Girl Store
We were treated to an after party following the screening. I especially enjoyed the event because it was one of those rare times that my husband was able to join us. He got a little taste of my work and what’s like doing it with a toddler! Upon arriving, Ji was treated to a Melody doll! I was so busy capturing the moment for Snapchat and Instagram stories that I didn’t capture it on my camera. They also had fun and educational stations for the kids to play at and a fun photo booth with props from the movie. I didn’t know the store was filled with so many dolls of different sizes, genres and backgrounds. It was amazing to see that they have a doll for almost every little girl to relate to.
About the cast…
The first of four original American Girl specials for Prime Video stars Marsai Martin (Black-ish) as the title character Melody, Frances Fisher (Titanic) as Miss Abbot, Frankie Faison (TheWire) as Melody’s grandfather Frank Ellison, and Idara Victor (TURN: Washington’s Spies) as Melody’s mother Frances Ellison.
An American Girl Story Melody 1963: Love Has to Win is scheduled to premiere on Friday, October 21 on Prime Video in the US and UK and I definitely encourage you to tune in with your kids!

I just watched the first episode of Better Things, the new FX series that sheds light on those days when you’re sleep-deprived and overwhelmed – and feeling maybe… perhaps… a little less than your best. It follows a trendy L.A Mom (just like you and me) and her daily struggles trying to make life happen for her and three young kids. I was hooked 10 seconds into the show. I don’t have a three kids, let alone a teenager but I could totally see bits and pieces of myself through her character. You can check out up to two full episodes here: https://ooh.li/a0b0d4f
Did you watch it? Are you hooked?!
What did you relate to?
I could totally relate to the first scene where she is letting her youngest daughter cry and throw a tantrum over earrings. She is showing tough love but then shows another side by offering to buy her a snack. The scene was funny and endearing!
and, how about the scene where she is driving with her teenage daughter and Max, the daughter turns around and asks mom to buy her weed. Her exact words were, “don’t you want me to have clean, organic pot?” Wow! I wouldn’t know what to say. I would secretly be thinking that I don’t want her to smoke pot but if she did, I would prefer it to be clean and organic. ha!
I also loved the daughters names. Duke, Frankie and Max. How cool is that?!
Seriously, check out the show now! Watch it here: https://ooh.li/a0b0d4f
and let me know what you most related to in the comments below. I will pick one comment and crown them the winner of a Better Things gift basket that contains the following items!
• Ray-Ban Sunglasses • Chipolo bluetooth keyring • Leather Clutch for mom’s things • Emergency Beauty Kit • Hypoallergenic travel pillow • Ultra-Soft travel pillow protector • Essential Oils Blend Mini • Skinny Lip Balm • “Credit Card” Mints
I can’t believe my soon to be three year old has already started her second semester in college. We enrolled her at an early education center at a local college and they go by semesters so technically it is her second semester, she’s just not in college YET. haha! She loves school and every week she has the responsibility to pack her backpack with essentials like a few changes of clothes, a blanket for nap time and other items depending on the assignment. She’s little but her big girl Princess Elena backpack gifted to her by Disney is perfect for the job!
The front pocket is perfect for storing baby wipes 😉 The two side pockets carry her sippy cup and hand sanitizer. She goes to school but she’s still my baby!
She stuffed the inside with a warm blanky, three changes of clothes and plenty of snacks!
When she comes from home from school she asks, “where is Elena”? She’s her new best friend and she loves to dance and sing with her. If you twirl Elena’s hand she sings both “The Magic Within You ” and “My Time” from her hit TV show. The singing is definitely Ji’s favorite feature.
Mine and the hubby’s favorite is the Princess Elena backpack that secretly doubles as our toddler bag for everyday essentials when out and about. I’m not the only parent that does this, right?
If your child is just as obsessed with Elena of Avalor or you are looking for a perfect gift, I do recommend the Feature Doll Set that also includes Elena’s sister Isabel and a guitar, scepter, crown, earrings, bracelet, shoes and book!
What are your family’s favorite back to school items? Do tell!

Last week, Ji and I were invited to a special screening and launch party of The Stinky and Dirty Show. The new animated series follows the adventures of best friends and unlikely heroes, Stinky the garbage truck and Dirty the backhoe loader, a dynamic and hilarious duo of resourcefulness that learn when things don’t go as expected, asking “what if” can lead to success. The show is based on books by Jim and Kate McMullan.
I knew Ji would be into the show because she already loves watching our garbage truck come and pick up our trash and she enjoys playing with toy cars. However, I was surprised when she started talking to the screen! She really loved it. While watching the two episodes that they shared with us, she exclaimed, “Oh, no!” “What!?” and “Yay” out loud. That’s a huge thumbs up coming from a two year old baby girl.
We both really enjoyed the launch party as well. It was held at The Grove and the décor, food and kids activities were very fitting. Who knew a stinky theme could be so cute?!
The Stinky and Dirty Show premieres on Amazon on September 2nd.

Gender Reveals, hiring a doula, breastfeeding are just a few things on my to do different this time around list. Another thing I want to do differently with this pregnancy? I want to look good! I work from home, so sweats, old shirts and my hair in a bun is the standard uniform but on the weekends when I’m out and about, I need to look presentable, picture ready and more than anything… I want to be comfortable! When I was pregnant with Ji, I couldn’t find cute maternity clothes. I wore regular oversized clothes that just didn’t hug me or support me in the right places! Well, thank goodness I found PinkBlush Maternity! They sent me this cute dress, and I’m in love with it!
I’m in love with the dress because my baby bump looks so cute! It’s comfortable (I wore it last Sunday in our 80 something Los Angeles hot weather and I never once got hot!) Not even when I was carrying my almost 3-year-old around or skipping around with her. I also love that it is simple enough to dress up or dress down, and the color is so vibrant!
I will definitely be shopping for more maternity dresses in the coming weeks, and I need a shopping buddy! So…
I’m teaming up with PinkBlush and giving away a
$75 gift card to one lucky winner!
Don’t worry, if you are not pregnant, they also have baby gear and other fun accessories.
Comment below with your due date or any your favorite maternity clothes to be entered to win! You can also enter on my Instagram page for more chances to win!
1. I was given this dress in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of JOHNSON’S® Baby. The opinions and text are all mine.
I want to tell you all about one of my new favorite baby products! It’s the JOHNSON’S® HEAD-TO-TOE™ Extra Moisturizing line with complementary HEAD-TO-TOE™ Baby Lotion, with vitamin E and baby oil and the new cleansing wipes.
I’m mentioning this because my little Ji started school just a little over a month ago, and our routine has changed since. I pick her up after work and usually run to do a quick grocery store stop or other daily errands with her. We then go home and get started on dinner and because we don’t spend all day together anymore, her daily bath is a vital part of our time together. We play, splash and talk about her day at school. Once her bath is over, she gets a massage while she drinks her nighttime cup of milk. Oh, the life!
I was scared that her new daily baths (I’m guilty of skipping some days when she wasn’t in school) were going to dry up her skin but the JOHNSON’S® Baby new HEAD-TO-TOE™ has actually made it softer. The baby wash and baby cream soften the skin more than the original HEAD-TO-TOE™ Wash and is a great fit for babies with sensitive skin. She loves putting her arm to her nose to smell the freshness.
And, on days when we have to run and after-school errand, or weekends when we have been out and about all day, the JOHNSON’S® Baby new HEAD-TO-TOE™ cleansing cloths sure come in handy. After a full day of playing in a sandbox, painting, riding mini tricycles and even swimming, she’s not exactly fresh and clean anymore. The wipe is thick and soft and perfect for in between baths and they smell SO good. I know that I’m not the only adult that still uses JOHNSON’S products for themselves, so my fellow lifetime users will appreciate this fresh smell.
With baby number two on the way, I’m super excited to have discovered a new fave! I will definitely be using all of these new products for the new baby too!
Check out the facts below to see if the JOHNSON’S® Baby new HEAD-TO-TOE™ line is a fit for your family.
I would love to hear about your favorite baby items that you wish you had with baby number one. Do share!
